Victoria Beckham SS18
January 7th 2018
As we enter a new month and a new year we also reach the start of a new style season; with fashion week kicking off again in just over a month (it starts in New York on February eighth), Spring/Summer 2018 trends and resort collections are on the forefront of every fashionista’s mind.
How to get ahead of the fashion pack? Savy sale shopping.
Everyone tends to make the most of post-christmas sales at this time of the year, stocking up on winter clothes that if they don’t get use of now will surely be used once winter rolls around again. Some people prefer to head straight for the ‘new collection’ rails, packing up their knitwear before the snow has even melted. What if you made the most of the sales by purchasing items that will see you out of winter and well into Spring?
There are some very clear blueprints of what trends are likely to take off for SS18, so with a bit of smart shopping you can hunt for pieces in the sales that are ‘ahead of the trends’ and put you ahead of the pack.
Transitioning your closet and looks can be tricky when we enter that limbo period where new season collections are available but the weather is not yet suitable; by shopping new season trends in the post-winter sales you will insure that you closet is both stylish and suitable for all weather.
Winter florals were huge this season, so tracking down statement floral pieces in the sales shouldn’t be difficult and will still be very relevant next season. Look for pieces with bold, bright prints that can be layered up or down depending on the weather. Sheer fabrics are also a good choice, ideal for layering but also because peek-a-boo looks and pieces were very popular on the runways of fashion week last September. If Moschino’s collection was anything to go by (pictured right) then bold floral accessories also have the potential of being a big hit this coming SS18.

lilac & purple
There were so many prominent colour trends on the catwalks of fashion week in the SS18 shows that it’s hard to narrow it down to one to watch, but if I did have to pick I’d say all shades of lavender, lilac and purples will be popping up everywhere in the new season. Neither of these colours were very big for autumn/winter so it may not be the easiest task to track down pieces in these pastel shades; however, if you do spy some I recommend you snap them up fast.

tassels, feathers & even a little bit of glitter
Hands up if you too have been loving the tassel trends in accessories this season (yes, me too), well you can look forward to seeing a lot more tasseling next season. Tassels and feathering will have us all in a flap as they are trends that are here to stay in a big way. Getting glammed up is getting trendy again as we see minimalism take a step back next season and instead go for looks that are all about the drama, sparkle and texture as seen on the Nina Ricci runway (pictured right).

all black everything
Every woman needs a little black dress in their closet, right? And if Dolce & Gabbana are anything to go by (and they usually are) then the LBD is no longer reserved for winter party season, and will transition into Spring and Summer this year. There are always plenty of black party pieces in the shops at this time of year, so make sure you make the most of what’s on sale and scout yourself out one that will see you all the way through to July and August.
