July Favourites

What I’ve been loving through the month of July; tried & tested and highly recommended!

Hello lovely readers! It’s been a couple of weeks since I have been able to post and I am so happy to be back online and back to (blogging) business. If you follow me on Instagram then you’ll already know that in July I moved from London to Italy; the past couple of weeks have been a blur of boxes, bin bags and organising, but we are now fully settled in our new home here in Italy and I look forward to sharing more of our moving experience with you all over the net few weeks. But first let’s rewind a bit and reflect on the products that I have been loving (and relying on) through the month of July…

This month I needed products that were fuss free, could multitask and really cared for my skin; between the general stresses of moving, the excess dust and dirt in the air and then travel, my skin was put through a lot and my skincare products put to the test. A few old favourites resurfaced this month and proved, yet again, how great and reliable they are. REN’sFlash Defence Anti-Pollution Mist has been on hand through July, helping to keep me cool but also to protect my skin from air pollutants; this face mist is my ultimate favourite travel skincare companion! During the day I have been loving Avène’sHydrance Optimale UV Light with SPF 20; it’s such a hydrating cream that absorbs deep into the skin and also has sun protection, meaning that I can put minimal thought into my morning routine and still be fully covered if I go out in the sun. Finally, at bedtime I have been loving Olay Complete 3in1 Night; this cream moisturiser is a lovely light formula that is so soothing on the skin after a long day. I think when it comes to budget friendly skincare, you can’t go wrong with Olay, their products are just such great quality and leave your skin beautifully soft and healthy looking as well as always taking anti-aging into consideration too!

This month I have loved mixing my own bases, combining my favourite moisturisers, face oils and foundations to create a base that is working for my skin as well as the appearance of my complexion; multi-tasking on point! My most reached for foundation, and the only one that didn’t get packed in a box but instead travelled with me, was the Nars cult classic Sheer Glow Foundation; this is such a great foundation, both bendable and buildable depending on your needs or the occasion, and always leaves you with a gorgeous dewy finish, perfect for Summer. Another beauty product that has been on hand all though July was Bobbi Brown’s Golden Light Bronzing Powder; I have mentioned this bronzer before and I love it because it is the perfect shade for fairer skin tones, it makes adding contour or a full face bronze effortless with no fear of ending up orange. Being the lipstick addict that I am, even in the midst of the chaos of moving house, I wasn’t with out some lip product; Colourpop’s Lippie Stix are the perfect fuss free lip product and I have been loving the shade TootsiAs for the lashes, last month I opened a new tube of my favourite Tarte Gifted Amazonian Clay Mascara, it’s a highly pigmented, light formula that lifts lashes and lasts all day.

Palm print and palm leaf inspired accessories are everywhere this season and so when I saw these gold detail palm leaf earrings from Aldo I couldn’t leave them behind, they were an absolute bargain too at only £10/€12! One of my favourite things about summer is shopping for sunglasses, yet another addiction of mine! This year Primark’s sunglasses collection is on point and on trend, with so many designer dupes for under £5/€5; my favourite have been this Dior inspired pair (photographed above), but there are so many to choose from, I couldn’t just get one pair! I’m not sure you can technically class perfume as an accessory, but I considered it as one; while cleaning out my unopened toiletries drawer last month I came across a bottle of my favourite Avon Far Away EDP; I had stashed it away from last Christmas and was so  happy when I found it that I have been wearing it everyday since, such a gorgeous soft musky scent for Summer nights!

I got a lot of reading done during July, it became my way of both escaping from and procrastinating about all the jobs that needed to get done before we left London. I finished Linwood Barclay’s Broken Promise, as well as Paula Hawkins’ The Girl on the Train; both are gripping thrillers that will keep you guessing right up to the last pages. I haven’t seen the movie adaptation of The Girl on the Train but I have been told it’s nothing in comparison to how good the book is, so if you’ve seen the movie but not read the book yet, get thee to Amazon pronto! My favourite read of the month though was Sofia Amoruso’s #GIRLBOSS. I loved Amoruso’s witty and blunt style of writing and found this book to be truly motivating and inspiring; it is a must read for anyone with business aspirations in the twenty-first century. Once you’ve finished the book, the Netflix adaption is a great watch; other Netflix series on my currently loving list are Power and Suits.
