8 PRODUCTS YOU SHOULD BE PACKING FOR A SUN HOLIDAY
Jetting off somewhere sunny this holiday season? Save yourself some valuable suitcase space with some multipurpose wonder products.
Packing is one of my least favourite pass times, I always love the idea of travelling right up until the time arrives for me to pack my suitcase. What will I wear? What if the weather changes? What if I end up going somewhere fancy? With so many worries about options I often end up over packing.
Something that I’ve started to get quite skilled at packing though is skincare and beauty products, I’ve learned (the hard way) that one multipurpose product is better than three separate ones. That may sound obvious, but sometimes the products that can double up as something else are not so obvious to you when you’re not used to using them that way on a daily basis.
Packing for a sun holiday should be fun, and also should only require minimum products in the skincare and beauty department; if you’re spending time in the sun and sea, you skin is going to be in great condition in a few days and you won’t need your heavy duty under-eye concealer because you’ll be getting so much sleep on the sun loungers anyway!
A spray that cools you down and hydrates your skin? Yes please! This face mist is super refreshing and perfect for a sun holiday to keep you cool on the move. Not checking a bag? Not a problem! It also come in a compact, hand-luggage friendly size so you can stay fresh on your flight too!
Instead of packing a day cream and a face cream with SPF, roll the two into one with Clinique’s Anti-wrinkle Face Suncream. It’s fragrance free, mess free and feels like a normal face cream just with a super high sun protection factor.
Now what if I told you that you could turn your suncream into foundation? Well with Clinique’s Blend It Yourself Pigment Drops you can! Just a few drops mixed into you face suncream and then apply as you would your usual foundation. It will save you space packing and you can decided how high coverage you want by how many drops you add. No more white-faced beach selfies for you!
4. A One-Stop Palette
Don’t fall into the trap of packing separate eyeshadows and pressed powders, look for a palette that has all of the above so you’re only packing one item that can create multiple looks. My favourite is the Clinique Kissed By the Sun Bronzing Palette (similar here) as it has lots of shimmery neutral shades that look great with a tan. Alternatively you could build your own perfect palette by removing the pans from you favourite eyeshadows and compacts.
I know I said don’t fall into the trap of packing separate compacts, however if you are going to pack a pressed powder compact let it be this one by Bobbi Brown! Santa Barbara is such a pretty summer shade; a bronzer, blush and highlight all rolled into one. You could even use this on your eyelids and mix a little with some lip balm for a lip tint. That’s 5 products in one compact, how could you go wrong?
This eyeliner is the definition of ‘long-wear’ and ‘waterproof’, it does not budge once it’s on and you will need a pretty good eye-makeup remover to get it off at the end of the day. Sounds perfect for the beach/pool. My favourite shade for Summer is Deep Sea.
It’s fragrance free, stickiness free and SPF40, what more could a pale girl in the sun want?
Not just a body mist, oh no! This So…? fragrance can be used to freshen up pool side when you feel a but sweaty (and smelly), freshen beachy hair, to keep your clothes smelling fresh if you can’t wash them, keep your suitcase from smelling by spritzing before you zip it up or to freshen up the smell of your room/bathroom as a room spray. You’ll be grateful you packed it, trust me!
