Monday Motivation: Morning Yoga for Wellbeing

Rise, shine, breathe and conquer the day ahead.

“Work hard, stay positive and get up early. It’s the best part of the day” – Sr. G Allen

I won’t lie, I’m not a morning person, I snooze my alarm three to four times and then role out of the bed and shuffle to the kitchen for coffee. However, studies show that people who are successful are early risers and so in the last few months I’ve turned back the time on that alarm that I continuously snooze and started getting up earlier.

There are many benefits to rising early, I have time to drink some fresh fruit/veg juice (read my post on home juicing here), time to do some little jobs around the house like putting in a load of laundry and answering emails and most important to me, time to practice yoga before I start the rest of my day. I have been practicing yoga for nearly 3 years now; it helps me to clear my mind, centre myself as well as tone and stretch my muscles.

Yoga is about connecting your breath, your body and your mind; it is a practice that requires commitment to yourself. You have to listen to your bodies needs and then you will learn how to push yourself further than you thought you could even go, not just on the mat, but in the rest of your life too. So, what are you waiting for? Set your alarm 15 minutes earlier tomorrow and try some of the sequences linked below. Namaste.
